Fincar (Generic Proscar) tablets are indicated for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in patients with an enlarged prostate to improve symptoms, reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and reduce the risk of the need for surgery including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and prostatectomy.
Generic Proscar in combination with the alpha-blocker doxazosin is used to reduce the risk of symptomatic progression of BPH. Fincar tablets are manufactured by Cipla Ltd. in the strengths of 5 mg

Active Ingredient present in Fincar Tablets
The active ingredient present in Fincar tablets is Finasteride. Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg of Finasteride USP.
Uses of Generic Proscar (Fincar by Cipla)
Finasteride 5 mg tablets is prescribed to treat symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (known as BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. Generic Proscar (Finasteride 5 mg) actively improves the symptoms, reduces the risk of acute urinary retention, and reduces the risk of the need for surgery including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and prostatectomy.
Generic Proscar (Finasteride 5 mg) may be combined with the alpha-blocker doxazosin (sold under the brand name Cardura) to reduce the risk of symptomatic progression of BPH (a confirmed ≥4 point increase in AUA symptom score).
We supply Fincar tablets by Cipla which is also known as Generic Proscar. It contains the active ingredient Finasteride 5mg.
Fincar Tablets - Dosage
The recommended dose of Fincar tablets is one tablet (5 mg) once a day, with or without meals.
How to Use Fincar Tablets
The recommended dosage of Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg) is one tablet taken orally once daily with or without food. Fincar by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg) may be administered alone or in combination with the doxazosin (sold under the brand name Cardura). You do not need to change the dosage if you have renal impairment nor does elder patient needs to take a different dosage.
Fincar Tablets Contraindications
Fincar tablets are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Finasteride or to any other component of this medication.
They are also contraindicated in women when they are or may potentially be pregnant. If this medicine is used during pregnancy, or if pregnancy occurs while taking this drug, the pregnant woman should be apprised of the potential hazard to the male foetus.
Fincar Side effects
The common Fincar side effects reported in 1% or more of the patients treated with Fincat tablets (Finasteride) and greater than in patients treated with placebo are impotence, decreased libido, decreased volume of ejaculate, breast enlargement, breast tenderness and rash
The other common side effects of Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar) include:
• trouble getting or keeping an erection (impotence)
• decrease in sex drive
• ejaculation disorders
• enlarged or painful breast - you should promptly report to your doctor any changes in your breasts such as lumps, pain or nipple discharge
In addition, the following have been reported when taking Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg):
• allergic reactions, including rash, itching, hives, and swelling of the lips and face
• rarely, some men may have testicular pain
• in rare cases, male breast cancer has been reported
You should discuss side effects with your doctor before taking Fincar tablets and anytime you think you are having a side effect. These are not all the possible side effects with Fincar tablets. Consult your doctor for more information.
Warnings & Precautions When Using Fincar Tablets
Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar) are only to be taken by men and should never be given to women nor to childred (pediatric patients).
EXPOSURE OF WOMEN — RISK TO MALE FETUS
Women should not handle a crushed or broken Fincar tablet (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg) when they are pregnant or may potentially be pregnant as it may be absorbed with subsequent potential risk to a male fetus.
Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg) are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets have not been broken or crushed.
A doctor should access if you have other conditions such as infection, prostate cancer, stricture disease, hypotonic bladder, or other neurogenic disorders that might mimic BPH before initiating therapy with Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg).
Patients with large residual urinary volume and/or severely diminished urinary flow should be carefully monitored for obstructive uropathy. Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg) may not be the correct medication to prescribe and take.
Finasteride is metabolized extensively in the liver and caution should be used in the administration of Fincar tablets (Generic Proscar) in patients with liver function abnormalities.
Generic Proscar During Pregnancy
Finasteride (Generic Proscar ) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category X. Generic Proscar is contraindicated for use in women who are or may become pregnant.
Generic Proscar Nursing Considerations
Generic Proscar is not indicated for use in women. It is not known whether Finasteride is excreted in human milk.
