Noresthisterone 5 mg 150 Tablet

Norethisterone Period Delay TreatmentWhat is Norethisterone?Norethisterone is a synthetic and potent progestogen hormone which stops uterine bleeding. It also has some androgenic effects and some weak oestrogenic activity. Naturally occurring progestogens are the hormones that maintain the lining of the uterus. At the time before a period, the level of progestogen hormone falls and this causes the lining of the uterus to be shed as menstrual period. By taking Norethisterone tablets the levels of progestogens are kept artificially high, and so the period does not start. For women who take a "fixed dose" combined oral contraceptive pill, the same effect can be achieved by starting the next pack of the pill immediately without the normal seven day break. Taking two packs "back to back" in this way is safe if done occasionally. It is not advisable to link more than two packs without allowing a period.A similar approach can be taken by women on bi-phasic or tri-phasic contraceptive pill by taking the last 'phase' of the pills from the second pack immediately after finishing the first pack. Please consult your pharmacist if you are uncertain of the type of contraceptive pill you are taking. How do I use Norethisterone? To delay your period, one tablet should be taken three times a day. You should start to take the tablets three days prior to the expected start of your period and keep taking it until you wish your period to resume. A normal period should occur 2-3 days after you stop taking the tablets. What are the side effects of Norethisterone?Like all medicines Norethisterone can cause side effects but these are rare.If you experience any of the following side effects you should stop taking norethisterone and contact your doctor immediately:Swelling of the face and wheezing which may be caused by a severe allergic reaction, thrombosis (a blood clot in a leg or the lungs), changes in liver function or jaundice (yellowing of skin and whites of eyes), migraine, significant rise in blood pressure which may cause persistent headaches.Other side effects include breakthrough bleeding, breast changes, including breast discomfort, ovarian cysts, changes in sex drive, pre-menstrual (pre-period) symptoms, feeling sick or being sick, stomach ache, acne, allergic skin rashes, itching, discoloration of the skin, swelling due to fluid retention, appetite changes, headache, dizziness, depression, drowsiness, tiredness, sleeplessness, high blood sugar, fever, worsening of vision in patients who are short sighted, minor eye changes which may cause difficulties if you wear contact lenses...
